A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
To change your number in the Microsoft Authenticator app, you need to update your authentication methods through the Microsoft Entra admin center or Microsoft Graph PowerShell. Here are the steps you can follow:
- Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center as at least an Authentication Administrator.
- Navigate to Entra ID > Users.
- Select the user for whom you want to change the authentication method and choose Authentication methods.
- At the top of the window, select + Add authentication method.
- Choose Phone number and enter the new phone number in the valid format (e.g.,
+1 4255551234). - Select Add to save the changes.
Note that email addresses may be used for self-password resets but not for authentication purposes.
If you are a user, you can also manage your own authentication methods in My Sign Ins | Security info.
Make sure to follow these steps to ensure your number is updated correctly.
