I am unable to select lines of text in Word by dragging the cursor. I need to select the starting point then the ending point. How do I allow the dragging function?

If holding the left mouse key and dragging does not work, a restart of the PC may help. However, the steps outlined by Doug is often more convenient.

Left click with the mouse at the start of the text that you want to select, then move the mouse cursor to the end of the text and while holding down the SHIFT key, left click at that point and then drag to the required location, or use CTRL+x to cut the text, move to the required location and use CTRL+v
