Hi Microsoft Team,

We are experiencing an issue where a work laptop is repeatedly prompting for the BitLocker recovery key multiple times per day. Upon investigation, we identified that the affected device is a Dell Vostro 15 3530, and three laptops of the same model are experiencing the same behavior.

While reviewing Event Viewer, we noticed Event ID 41, which appears to be related to the issue. Additionally, the affected devices sometimes shut down unexpectedly and require several attempts using the power button before they start again.

We would appreciate your assistance in investigating this issue. I have collected the dump files and would like to share them with Microsoft through a secure method rather than posting a public OneDrive shareable link on the forum. Please advise on the best secure way to provide these files.

Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

M

The computer is with latest updates for 25H2. TPM and Secure boot settings are consistent across all devices which have this issue. How do I send dump files? @Microsoft . Pls guide.

    Hi Mohamed Noorani,

Event ID 41 generally indicates that the system experienced an unexpected shutdown or restart, often tied to hardware instability, firmware, or driver issues. Since multiple Dell Vostro 15 3530 laptops are affected, this points to a model-specific compatibility issue rather than isolated hardware failure. BitLocker recovery prompts are triggered when the system detects changes in the boot environment, firmware, or disk state, which can be linked to these unexpected shutdowns.

The recommended next steps are: update BIOS and firmware to the latest Dell release, ensure chipset and storage drivers are current, and apply the latest cumulative updates for Windows 11 24H2. Also, confirm that TPM and Secure Boot settings are consistent across the devices, as mismatches can cause repeated recovery prompts. If the issue persists, the dump files you collected will be very useful.

In summary, this is likely a firmware or driver-related issue specific to the Dell Vostro 15 3530 model, and updating BIOS, drivers, and Windows should be the first step. Secure file sharing is available through official Microsoft Support channels rather than public links.

You can try the above steps and let me know the outcome. If this answer helps clarify the situation, I’d appreciate it if you could click “Accept Answer” so I know your issue has been resolved.

    Jason.
