In my recently installed Windows 11 I have chosen the transparency settings like this:

However, none of the screen elements show any transparency whatsoever. Why is that? Have I missed something?

Power saver is not enabled. As to the graphic driver, I am running a freshly installed Windows 11 Pro on the Microsoft's very own Surface Pro 8 (highest spec) which was launched only a few months ago. I expect the driver aspects should have been taken care of by the vendor (Microsoft in this case, both for software and for hardware!).

The transparency will only apply to specific places like:

    1. Taskbar
    2. Action Center and Notification Center
    3. The left side of the Mail app when not using a background image

There is no transparency inside the Settings app itself, although enabling this option will allow your wallpaper color to shine through. If you turn it off, the Settings window will turn gray instead.

Thanks CmdrKeene! Whatever transparency there might be on those items (or any other for that matter), in my case it is practically imperceptible. And it is equally imperceptible on my Surface Pro 4, my Surface Pro 8, my external DellU2722DE monitors and on my old Dell Dimension desktop and its Dell U2410 monitor powered by a Nvidia Quadro FX1800 card. It looks like this:

I see your point. And you are right, it does boil down to personal preferences. For me, it is way too "subtle". In my example above I would expect to at least see a blurred hint of black text. The way we had it in previous versions of Windows was OK; or the way Apple has it in MacOS. Or at least the way the same Windows 11 has it right now in the implementation of the Taskbar widget:

This transparency issue is absolutely a bug introduced in 22H2. It's on my work computers, and my surface pro at home. I managed to roll back one of the work computers in time to 21H2 (today Nov. 1 2022), before being locked out of the 10 day window, this fixed the transparency problem. All computers are different with different GPU's. The other issue is, if you open an explorer window, and attempt to drag and drop a file of any kind, there is a solid white background around it, completely obscuring your view when trying to drop it in another folder or anywhere for that matter, however, if you grab a file from the desktop, the transparency is working perfectly.
Not sure where to escalate this problem.
