My email has been hacked and the language has been changed. It does not appear to be changed on the app, but on desktop it is no longer in English and I cannot see how to change this back. How can I update this?

All the emails in my inbox have also been deleted, and my deleted folder has been emptied. How can I recover these?

Hello, try to sign in at outlook.live.com select the Settings gear, go to General, then Language and time, choose English, and save. Since your emails were deleted, check Deleted Items and select Recover items deleted from this folder.

You can restore messages within about 30 days if they were not permanently removed. If nothing shows there, recovery is no longer possible. Also go to account.microsoft.com/security review recent activity, change your password, and turn on two step verification to secure your account.

To change the language back to English in Outlook on the web, you can follow these steps:

    1. Sign in to Outlook on the web.
    2. Click on the gear icon (Settings) in the upper right corner.
    3. Select View all Outlook settings at the bottom of the menu.
    4. Go to General > Language and time.
    5. Choose your preferred language from the dropdown menu and save the changes.

Regarding the deleted emails, if your inbox and deleted folder have been emptied, recovering them can be challenging. However, you can try the following steps:

    1. Check if you have any backup of your emails or if they are synced with another email client.
    2. If you are using a Microsoft 365 account, you may be able to recover deleted items from the Recoverable Items folder. To access this:
      • Go to the Deleted Items folder.
      • At the top of the message list, select Recover items deleted from this folder.
      • Select the items you want to recover, and then select Restore.
    3. If these options do not work, you may need to contact Microsoft Support for further assistance.

It's important to secure your account by changing your password and enabling two-factor authentication to prevent future hacks.
