I purchased my laptop which came with the software for 1 year in August of 2025 and the software wasn't activated until September 2025. Why are you asking for payment?

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

In many cases, the Microsoft Office that comes with a new laptop is actually a 1-year trial subscription (usually Microsoft 365), and it needs to be activated properly using a Microsoft account. The subscription countdown normally starts from the day it was first activated, not from the purchase date of the laptop.

Please confirm what type of license you have.

Check what it shows under Services & Subscriptions:

    1. Do you see Microsoft 365 listed? Does it show expired, active, or trial? Do you see any renewal date?
    2. Also, do you remember if you redeemed a product key or just signed in when you first opened Office?

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Regards,

    John J.D.
