A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
Hi Stephen Mottram,
Good day. I'm Jhun an independent advisor. In regards with your question if you can restore them after a subscription (I assume this is a storage upgrade) to a 100GB plan, the answer is YES YOU CAN RESTORE them IN MOST CASES. Here are the steps of what and where you can check these lost files.
A. Check if they automatically come back.
- When you go over storage: Microsoft may temporarily block syncing. Files may appear missing. Email attachments may stop working.
- Now that you have upgraded, go to onedrive.live.com
- Sign in.
- Check your file list.
- Sometimes it takes 15 to 30 minutes for storage upgrades to fully activate.
B. Files removed due to storage limits, so check the OneDrive Recycle Bin.
- Check OneDrive Recycle Bin and Second-stage Recycle Bin.
- In OneDrive, click Recycle bin (left panel).
- Restore any files you see.
- Also click Second-stage recycle bin at the bottom.
C. Check if your account was frozen. If your account was over limit for a while, Microsoft may have:
- Put it into read-only mode.
- Scheduled deletion after a grace period (usually 30+ days).
- Go to, account.microsoft.com/services
- and confirm: Your 100 GB plan shows as active. Storage shows under 100 GB now.
D. If files are still missing. There is a built-in restore feature:
- In OneDrive web.
- Click the gear icon for Settings.
- Click Restore your OneDrive
- Choose a date before the files disappeared
- This can restore the entire OneDrive to a previous state (up to 30 days for personal accounts).
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Jhun
