    Hi,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand how stressful it can be when you forget a password, especially when you’re trying to access email from your mobile device and need it urgently.

Microsoft guidance explains that when an account password is forgotten, the recommended path is to reset the password through your organization’s recovery process, which depends on whether your OUH email is managed by Microsoft 365 and whether self‑service password reset (SSPR) is enabled for your account. When SSPR is enabled, you can reset the password by going to the Microsoft password reset page, verifying your identity, and creating a new password. After the password is reset, you can sign back in on your mobile device using the updated credentials and your mailbox should sync normally once authentication succeeds. If SSPR is not enabled, your organization’s IT admin must reset the password for you because Microsoft’s account recovery tools cannot reset passwords for work or school accounts managed by an organization.

To help you further, may I ask whether your OUH email is a work or school account under Microsoft 365, and do you know if your organization allows self‑service password reset? Once I know this, I can guide you step‑by‑step so you can regain access smoothly. Feel free to follow up I’m here to help you get your email working again.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Noel

To get OUH mail working on a mobile when the password is forgotten, the password must be reset with the mail provider first, then updated in the Outlook mobile app.

    1. Reset the OUH mail password
      • If OUH mail is a Microsoft 365 work/school account, use the organization’s self-service password reset page if available (for example, via the IT portal) or contact the OUH/IT helpdesk or mail-server administrator to reset the password. For Exchange/enterprise accounts, only the IT admin can reset it.
      • If OUH mail is a personal Microsoft account (e.g., Outlook.com/Hotmail), reset the password in a browser using the normal Microsoft account password reset flow, then sign in again.
    2. Update the password in Outlook for iOS/Android
      • After the password is changed on the server, open the Outlook mobile app.
      • Outlook should detect that the password changed and prompt for the new password. Enter the new OUH mail password.
      • If it does not prompt or still fails to sign in, remove the OUH account from Outlook mobile and add it again using the new password.
    3. If sign-in still fails
      • Verify the username and password by signing in to the OUH webmail/OWA or web portal first. If sign-in fails there, the account or password is still incorrect and OUH/IT support must fix it.
      • If using manual/advanced setup (IMAP/Exchange), confirm the correct mail server, username/UPN, and domain with the OUH mail administrator and enter them under Show advanced settings when adding the account.

For any non-Microsoft OUH mail system (e.g., hospital-owned mail server), contact the OUH mail/server administration team to reset the password and obtain the correct server settings, then configure Outlook mobile with those details.
