Hello,

I cannot get to the chat as it breaks with "authorization failed" message. I googled that the email is ******@microsoft.co.uk , but it does not work and it keeps bouncing.

Hi,

Thank you for sharing your question. I can completely understand how frustrating it is when you’re trying to get help, the chat fails with an “authorization failed” error, and the email address you found online bounces. That would make anyone feel stuck.

Microsoft’s official guidance explains that there is no public, direct‑use email address for Microsoft Support, and any email addresses you find on the internet are either outdated or scams. Microsoft support confirms that the support team does not offer a general customer‑facing email inbox, and users must instead contact support through the official support portal or phone options.

Microsoft states that the correct and only official way to reach support is through the Microsoft Support Contact page, where you can choose your product and access chat or phone support when available. This page is the central and verified route for all genuine support interactions, and it will never require you to send email to a support mailbox.

Since your chat fails with “authorization failed,” the next recommended step is to try accessing the contact page from a different browser, private/incognito mode, or another device to bypass cached login issues. You can also use the phone‑support option listed on the support page if chat will not open.

To help you move forward, may I ask which browser and device you’re using when the chat fails? Once I know that, I can guide you through the steps to get the support page working so you can reach a live support agent. I’m here to help you get through this smoothly.

I hope this helps.

Best Regards,

Noel

Microsoft does not provide a direct, general-purpose support email address for Windows or Microsoft account issues. Support is provided through self-help, community forums, chat, and phone/callback, depending on the product and subscription.

For Windows 11 and Microsoft account issues, use these official channels:

    1. For Microsoft account sign-in or password problems
      • Use the sign-in helper or recovery tools such as Recover your account at the Microsoft account site, as described in “My username and password have stopped working.”
      • If still unable to sign in and the system says it can’t find the account, use the Contact support option from that article to reach Microsoft account support.
    2. For general Microsoft 365/Office/Windows home support
      • Go to Microsoft 365 Customer Service and Support. For home products like Windows OS and Outlook.com, support is via Chat or Email (for some services), not a direct email address that can be typed manually.
      • For Microsoft 365 for home or business, use the Get Help app or browser-based contact support flow described in “Contact Microsoft Office Support.”
    3. If web chat is failing with “authorization failed”
      • Use the generic Contact Microsoft Support entry point described under “Troubleshoot Microsoft verification code issues”: go to Contact Microsoft Support, enter the problem, select Get Help, then choose Contact Support to be routed to available options (chat or callback) for the region.
    4. Phone support
      • For some scenarios (especially Microsoft 365 for business), phone support is available via the global support phone numbers or Customer service phone numbers pages referenced in the context. From there, select the region and follow the IVR prompts to reach an agent.

There is no supported generic mailbox like *@microsoft.co.uk for handling Windows or account support; bounced messages from such addresses are expected. Use the official web, chat, or phone flows instead.
