Hello Microsoft Team,

I am facing an issue in windows update installation. In windows server 2016, KB5001402 and KB5005043 are not getting installed. We have restarted the windows update service and renamed the software distribution folder as well. But same issue persists. When we checked the CBS log file, We can see the error message as 0x80070bc9. So far, only 3 KB's were installed on these server KB4485447, KB3200970, KB3199986. The last KB installed was on Feb 2 , 2019.

    Hello

First off, I would deactivate any 3rd Party firewall or AV temporary, as it may be filtering the communication to Windows Update servers.

If the issue still persists, I would recommend to run a image repair following: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/repair-a-windows-image

Last but not least, rather than the CBS log, it would be better to build and review the windowsupdate.log for specific event logging on what leads to the issue: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/windowsupdate/get-windowsupdatelog?view=windowsserver2019-ps
