Recall or expire an email in the new Outlook

Question

In the old Outlook, I could set an email expiration date. I cannot find in the new Outlook. Also, used to be able to recall an email, too. Has this been removed for the new Outlook?

In new Outlook for Windows:

1. Message Recall

• Message Recall is still available in new Outlook.
• Requirements and limitations:
  • Both sender and recipient must have Microsoft 365 work or school accounts in the same organization.
  • It only works within the organization; it cannot recall messages sent over the internet or to other organizations.
  • It can be triggered from classic Outlook, new Outlook, Outlook for Mac, Outlook on the web, and Outlook for Android/iOS.
• How to recall in new Outlook (Windows):
  1. Open Sent Items.
  2. Double-click the sent message to open it in a separate window.
  3. On the ribbon, select Recall Message.
  4. Select OK in the confirmation dialog.
  5. A “Message Recall Report” email will arrive with a link showing whether the recall succeeded, is pending, or failed.

2. Message Expiration Date

• Setting a message expiration date is available in Outlook (classic desktop) via Options → More Options → Message Options → Delivery options → Expires after.
• The provided feature comparison shows Message Recall as available in both classic Outlook and new Outlook, but does not list message expiration as a supported mail feature in new Outlook.
• Based on the comparison, message expiration is not currently exposed as a supported feature in new Outlook for Windows, even though it remains available in classic Outlook.

To continue using expiration dates, use classic Outlook for Windows. Message Recall, however, is supported in both classic and new Outlook (subject to the organizational and account-type limitations above).
