Camera Setting

I could not find how to fix this in my computer settings OR Zoom video. When looking in FAQ's, my explanation must have been awful because I was never able to differentiate between a zoom meeting and my camera zooming in. The camera setting has auto frame off

Did you check the camera settings in the Zoom app?

Hi, I'm Rodrigo and I will help you.
What kind of camera do you have?
    Is it external or built-in?

If it is external, what is its model?

The zoomed‑in view is controlled by the camera software and Windows camera settings, not by Zoom meetings themselves. To adjust this, change the camera’s framing/zoom behavior in Windows and in the Camera app.

    1. Check Windows camera privacy and access
      • Select Start > Settings > Privacy > Camera.
      • Make sure Camera access for this device and Allow apps to access your camera are turned on.
      • Under Allow desktop apps to access your camera, make sure this is also turned on so apps like Zoom and Teams can use the camera.
    2. Adjust camera behavior in the Windows Camera app
      • Open Start > Camera.
      • Select the Settings icon in the top‑left corner.
      • Under Camera settings:
        • Turn Show advanced controls for photos and videos on so more options appear.
        • If there is an option to use system camera settings vs. app camera settings, switch between them and test which gives the correct framing.
      • Under Video settings, check the resolution and quality; sometimes very high resolutions can crop differently.
      • Close and reopen the Camera app and verify whether the preview is still zoomed in.
    3. If using a Surface Hub Smart Camera (or similar with automatic framing)
      • On Surface Hub, automatic framing can zoom in and out on people.
      • Sign in as Admin, open Settings > Surface Hub > Calling & Audio.
      • Under Automatic framing, turn the toggle Off if the camera is zooming or reframing unexpectedly.
      • Select End session and start a new session to apply the change.
      • If managed by IT, automatic framing can also be controlled via MDM using the DefaultAutomaticFraming policy.
    4. Test in Zoom
      • After adjusting Windows/Camera settings, open Zoom and start a New Meeting.
      • In Zoom, open Video Settings and verify the correct camera is selected.
      • If the image is still zoomed in, switch briefly to another app (like the Windows Camera app) to confirm whether the zoom is coming from the camera driver or from Zoom.

If the camera looks correct in the Windows Camera app but not in Zoom, the issue is in Zoom’s own video settings; if it is zoomed in everywhere, the camera’s own driver/software or automatic framing is causing the zoom and needs to be adjusted or disabled as above.
