Azure student discounts seem to require an educational email address, but our school doesn't provide educational email addresses for students; they are only available to on-campus faculty and staff. Students only have student IDs or other identification documents.

What can we do?

Can you provide me with other identity verification methods? For example, manual verification of student ID, etc.

Hello 博文 邵, it sounds like your school really didn’t provide students with .edu or other educational domain emails, which encountered the limitation that Azure for Students only recognizes educational emails. Here are a few ideas and optional verification methods that might help: Try 'manual document verification' Azure for Students supports manual verification in some regions/schools by uploading student IDs, enrollment certificates, and other documents. The general process is:

    • Open: https://azure.microsoft.com/free/students/
    • At the place where you enter your educational email, click 'I don’t have access to an academic email'
    • Select 'Verify using document upload' (if you don’t see this option, you may need to contact support)
    • Prepare the following materials:
      • Student ID (color scan, front and back, clearly showing name, school name, and validity period)
      • Enrollment certificate or transcript (official letterhead paper or electronic version, with date)
      • (Optional) A selfie holding your student ID,
    • for identity verification After submission, The review is generally completed within 1–3 business days

If there is no "Document Verification" option in the self-service process

    • Log in to the Azure portal and click on "Help + Support" in the top right corner.
    • Create a new ticket under the "Subscription and Billing" category, stating that you want to apply for Azure for Students, but your school does not provide an educational email, and you hope to go through the manual verification channel.
    • Attach scanned copies of the above materials, and support staff will help you activate it.

    Other alternative solutions:

    • Communicate with your IT/academic office to see if they can provide a temporary email or Office 365 student account (even with a custom domain, it can be used for verification).
    • Check out Microsoft Imagine (formerly DreamSpark), as some schools can provide Azure resources through activation codes after signing an agreement.
