A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
The verification code is being sent to the wrong email alias (with .cm instead of .com). That means the security info on the Microsoft account is incorrect and must be updated or the account must be recovered using another method.
Use these steps:
- From another device or browser, go to the Microsoft account Security basics page and sign in if possible: Sign in.
- When asked for a verification code, carefully check the hint for the email/phone. If none of the listed options are accessible or are wrong (like
.cm), choose I don't have any of these. - Follow the prompts to either:
- Add a new, correct email or mobile number as security info, or
- Fill out the account recovery form with as much accurate information as possible.
- If the account is blocked or codes are not being sent because of unusual activity or too many attempts, wait at least 24 hours without repeated retries, then try again using a different network or device.
- If still unable to sign in, use the sign-in helper and support options:
- Use the sign-in helper tool: Sign-in helper
- If needed, go to Contact Microsoft Support, choose Get Help, then Contact Support.
Note: Support agents cannot change account details or send verification codes; only updating security info or successful account recovery will fix the wrong email extension.
