Cumulative Update fails to install on windows server 2016 and windows 10(21H1) access denied (0x80070005 )error.

Hello,

I push windows patches through WSUS .On windows server 2016 and Windows 10 21H1 Below mentioned Cumulative updates fails. with access denied (0x80070005) error.

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070005: Security Update for Windows (KB5005573)

I have tried below troubleshooting steps.

Tried installing with local administrator account and domain admin account.

Disjoined machine from domain and tried

Tried installing manually.

Renamed Software Distribution Folder

Sconfig

Performed SFC/Scannow

Any fix,Has anyone faced this issue ?

Error code 0x80070005 means access is denied and usually occurs due to lack of permissions.

try resetting the Windows Update components and see if that helps, using the link below as a reference:
