Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Dear @Diane Stead,
Thank you for reaching out and for explaining your situation in detail. Based on what you described, I can see where some confusion may have arisen, so I’d like to clarify a few important points about the different account types and what they allow you to do.
When you sign in to https://account.microsoft.com using @yahoo.com, you are signing in with a Microsoft personal account. This portal allows you to: Manage your personal profile, View and manage personal subscriptions and payments
However, this portal does not reflect any administrative permissions for a Microsoft 365 business tenant. Being able to sign in successfully there does not mean the account has rights to manage users, licenses, or settings for a business organization.
Business administration for Microsoft 365 is handled through a work or school account that exists inside a Microsoft 365 tenant and has been assigned an admin role (such as Global Administrator). That is why, when you try to sign in at login.microsoftonline.com with the Yahoo address, you receive the message indicating that a personal account cannot be used there, this is expected behavior.
Regarding your work email address @loanfrenzy.net, the message stating that it does not have permission to view or manage the Microsoft 365 Admin Center indicates that this account currently does not have an administrator role assigned. It may be a standard user account, or the admin role may have been removed at some point.
At this stage, I recommend checking whether there is any other account in your tenant that still has administrative permissions. Often, when a Microsoft 365 tenant is first created, a default administrator account is generated during the initial signup process. If you were not the person who originally set up the tenant, it may be worth trying to recall whether another email address was used at that time, or whether a former colleague or IT provider might still have admin access.
If you confirm that no one else has administrative access and you believe you are the rightful owner of the tenant and domain, then this becomes an admin lockout scenario. In that case, the only supported path forward is to work with Microsoft Support so they can verify ownership of the tenant and restore or assign an administrator role.
Please also note that this forum is a user-to-user support space. Forum moderators do not have access to user accounts and are unable to reset passwords, change authentication methods, or intervene in sign-in issues.
Please try to find the related hotline number to call the frontline let them raise a ticket for you: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support
In some countries, this is an automated conversation: First, when you call the hotline, they will ask you what kind of problem you are struggling with.
Answer: Authenticator.
A: What products do you use?
B: Office 365 for business.
Verification: Education or company account?
B: For companies
A: Are you an administrator?
B: Yes.
A: Are there any other administrators in your organization?
B: No.
A: I need one.... Service request?
B: Yes
If your organization's Office 365 Business subscription is from a partner or reseller, contact the reseller's support provider to help open a service request on behalf of you instead.
If you still cannot reach to agent, there is still a workaround, you might consider registering for a new tenant by signing up for a trial subscription via this link Compare All Microsoft 365 Plans | Microsoft. This would allow you to create a new tenant following the provided prompts. Once set up, you can access the admin console of the new tenant and submit a support ticket requesting to speak with the Data Protection team on behalf of your previous tenant.
Please remember to cancel the trial subscription once your issue is resolved to avoid any unintended charges.
I understand how frustrating this situation can be, especially when you’re unable to reach a live support agent. Please know that this is not caused by anything you’ve done incorrectly, it’s a known scenario when administrative access is lost.
I hope this explanation helps clarify what’s happening and why you’re seeing these messages. If you have any updates or additional details, please feel free to reply. I’ll be happy to continue supporting you.
Looking forward to hearing back from you with any updates or additional details.
Warm regards,
