I am trying to sign in to my outlook email account on my ipad. It asks me for a code on the authenticator app but I never get a code. I have the same issue when trying to log in to my email on my phone and laptop.

Follow these steps to regain access when the Authenticator app is not giving a code:

    1. Try an alternate verification method
      • On the sign-in screen where the code is requested, look for options like I don't have a code or Use a different verification option.
      • If a phone number or email is listed, choose SMS or email to receive a verification code instead.
      • Make sure the email/phone shown matches security info previously added to the account and is entered in full and correctly when prompted.
    2. Check for email verification codes
      • Verification codes sent by email only go to the primary alias or another email added as a way to verify sign in.
      • Check the inbox and junk/spam folder for messages from @accountprotection.microsoft.com and use the latest code.
      • Mark @accountprotection.microsoft.com as a trusted sender so codes arrive in the inbox.
    3. Check for SMS verification codes
      • Confirm the phone is not blocking texts from unknown numbers.
      • Ensure the SMS inbox is not full and that the messaging app is working properly.
      • Avoid repeatedly requesting codes to multiple numbers or emails, as excessive requests can cause a temporary block where codes are not sent.
      • VOIP numbers cannot be used for verification; a mobile number is required.
    4. If no codes arrive at all
      • Activity may have been flagged as unusual or there may be heavy compromised traffic from the region, which can temporarily block or delay codes. These issues resolve automatically after some time.
      • Wait and try again later with a single, correct email or mobile number.
    5. If still locked out
      • If none of the verification methods work and access to the account is lost, use the Microsoft account recovery process starting from the normal sign-in flow and choosing the recovery options offered.

Once access is restored, review and update security info (add a working mobile number and alternate email) and ensure the Authenticator app is correctly registered so that sign-in codes or notifications appear for that account in the app.
