Hi Luis,
This problem with Kinect V2 happens quite often on Windows 11. I checked several forums and developer discussions, and these are the three fixes that seem to work for most people:
- Do a clean reinstall of the Kinect drivers (Runtime).
Unplug the Kinect completely (USB and power). Then go to Control Panel → Programs and Features and uninstall anything related to Kinect (SDK or Runtime). Restart your computer. After that, install Kinect Runtime 2.2 again, restart if needed, and only then plug the Kinect back in. When connecting it, make sure you plug the USB cable into a USB 3.0 port directly on the motherboard, not a hub or front-panel port.
- Check your USB 3.0 controller compatibility.
Kinect V2 is very sensitive to USB controllers. Some chipsets like ASMedia, VIA, or Fresco Logic can cause connection or detection issues. Try different USB 3.0 ports on your motherboard and disconnect other USB devices temporarily. If it still doesn’t work, many users solved it by installing a PCIe USB 3.0 card with an Intel or Renesas chipset, which tends to work better with Kinect V2.
- Verify Windows 11 settings (privacy and audio).
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and Microphone and make sure access is enabled. Then open Sound settings, find the Kinect microphone, and disable any audio enhancements or voice effects. Some users reported that these enhancements can cause the Kinect service to fail or disconnect.

If possible, also share what appears in Device Manager when the Kinect is connected, or any error messages you receive so we can continue troubleshooting. I hope this helps, and I wish you success in resolving your issue. Have a great day!
