Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
New Outlook and classic Outlook use different apps and data handling, so several issues can appear at once. Use these steps to stabilize things:
- Verify account and password
- In new Outlook, select the icon next to the email account name.
- If prompted, choose Continue and sign in with the correct password.
- If the provider requires an app password, generate it on the provider’s site and use that in Outlook instead of the normal password.
- Check if mail is really missing
- Sign in to the same account via the provider’s webmail (for example, Outlook.com, Gmail, or your ISP’s webmail).
- If folders and messages appear there, they are not lost; new Outlook is failing to sync or show them correctly.
- Fix send/receive issues

- Calendar not working
- Calendar in new Outlook depends on the account syncing correctly. Once the account is re‑added and fully synced, calendar items stored on the server should reappear.
- Items stored only in a local PST in classic Outlook will not automatically appear in new Outlook; they must be imported into an account that new Outlook can access.
- If problems persist
- Consider switching back to classic Outlook if available and working, then follow the general troubleshooting guidance:
- Repair the Outlook program.
- Repair or recreate the Outlook profile.
- Start Outlook in safe mode to rule out add‑ins.
