Is there going to be support for Windows 11 on intel I7 - 7700HQ CPU

It was previously announced that Intel I7 7700 HQ CPU will be supporting Windows 11 but currently when the final version is out, it says its not supported. Will it be supported in future?

What do you mean by the official method? Do you mean, download ISO and install it normally and it will work?

so windows 11 does actually work wirk with the chip then it's just a case of "you gotta pay for it"

Their perverse logic is to say if you buy a notebook or a computer with a 1.7 processor it means that you have the money so you can buy windows 11. For me this is their reasoning.

Hello,

Yes, i7-7700HQ processor is not compatible for Windows 11, according to Microsoft. Atm, we don't have any information, if it will be included in list of supported processors.

I recommend you to drop a feedback to Microsoft about this, using Feedback hub app.

Regards.

think from a business perspective , if they include it will they sell more or less machines? barely anyone bought the 8th generation so it was tactic whereas the 6th and 7th generation have the most customers so if you tell them their stuff is no good they will rush the stores at Walmart... and Microsoft will get more money!!!!!!!!

the 7700 HQ seems to be in the list for those running win 10 20H2 but not other versions. is this a mistake?

I just downgraded my version of windows to 20H2 in the hope that it would be compatible, (thinking it was a service or facility in the version 21H1 that disallowed the upgrade)

Since there are far less powerful chips that ARE compatible i would like to understand why this is so.

i found the chip listed here

it has nothing to do with a powerful processor or not. It has everything to do with maximizing profits. Yes, Bill Gates made a trillion dollars on Moderna vaccine but that was just an appetizer. When the Moderna vaccines creates side effects and they are there to rescue everyone from every side effect they will make more money. Likewise, many people have purchased the 7th generation of Intel processors if they include these with the Windows then there is a risk that they will not make nearly as much money and not sell enough machines and to continue this indefinite servicing of people is costly that is why they decided to let the people who are on the 7th generation have 5 more years with Windows 10 and then they will have to buy new hardware after or before if they want to take advantage of some of Windows 11's great features. Go to the Microsoft website to learn where they want you to buy your new computer : Walmart, Amazon, etc., you can help when you go to Walmart by giving them a few more dollars to the charity that they are fundraising for so it looks like they actually care and give to charity...

yes i understand WHY they have done this, but it is so blatant and wrong. There seems to be NO technical reason these chips are supported and Users should give a HUGE backlash to Microsoft for this Arbitrary listing of chips.

I could appreciate being blacklisted because my graphics card issn;t a minimum spec or not enough memory. but my chip beats a celeron hands down for example and they are on the list it seems.... Ridiculous!

PS would never use Walmart or Amazon but i get your meaning!

Hello,

Thank you for your question.

Have you tried the latest PC Health Check app?
If not get it from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11-specifications

Many users have stated this and if you have checked up on all the requirements like processor too then you can use the update assistance tool to get the Windows 11. Make sure you have 8th gen processors.

Windows 11 supported Intel processors
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/minimum/supported/windows-11-supported-intel-processors

I will also suggest you to post it Microsoft Windows 11 forums using below link.

Thanking me for my question and responding in an unhelpful way pointing me to resources i already know about does not answer my question. If you don't know it would be MORE helpful to admit that. than spewing bana; and standard amswers!

Of course i used the app and it told me what i already know that my chip is in the not supported list. but my question was:

Use L I N U X, way better than windows. I can custom it to do anything, even blo*j**b. For gaming better to buy an old gen console like PS4 or Nintendo. Buy new PC without (or cheap) graphics card. Linux support is best in terms of old hardware. You can install it in your washing machine, your Router or your electric toothbrush, almost anywhere you want, try that with windows. Guess what, it's free !!!

So I spent $3000 for a premium laptop 3 years ago and now it doesn't support the latest version of Windows because the 7700HQ processor is "too old"? Seriously?

And I spent $1500 about 2 and half years ago and now my laptop is too old. This is ridiculous.

I can confirm I have also received the windows 11 update for the i7-7700hq although I dont think I was supposed to? What I did was go into Settings>Insider settings, and then switched from beta channel to release preview and then back to beta channel, this then triggered windows 11 to automatically download in windows update menu. All seems to be running fine in windows 11 although I still have a message displaying that my PC doesnt meet the requirements.

Life saver !!! Working for me as well. Downloading the Windows 11 update. Thank you

2 Votes 2 ·

Add me to the list of peeps that this worked for!

Note: when i first clicked insider program, i selected "Beta", it asked me to reboot. i rebooted and there was no sign of win 11 :( i went back to my insider program and it actually had me in the "Release Preview" program. I changed it to Beta and 11 started downloading in windows update.
My point there being, if you join beta, reboot and don't see 11 coming down, go back to insider program an ensure it did indeed put you in Beta.
