Outlook send receive error

I am receiving an Outlook send receive error and have tried all the troubleshooting methods suggested by Microsoft.

The first troubleshooting method, using "repair" in Outlook account settings, gives me another error message: "We weren't able to set up your Google account with IMAP."

I haven't changed anything with gmail or Outlook. I've downloaded Outlook again, and like I said previously, tried every other troubleshooting method. Nothing has worked. Most frustrating of all is that I contacted Microsoft Support but no one ever called me or came onto the online chat.

If anyone has some suggestions or workarounds, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

    Hello

Many users seem to have this issue recently. Microsoft is still investigating this issue. The current workaround is published here: https://support.microsoft.com/office/users-get-errors-0x800ccc0e-0x800ccc0f-synchronizing-gmail-and-yahoo-accounts-in-classic-outlook-e5a7b684-7c5c-4848-ab2d-d48291451f67

Use only supported, in-scope Outlook troubleshooting steps and focus on what can block send/receive in classic Outlook.

    1. Verify the Outlook profile and try a profile repair
    • In classic Outlook, a damaged profile can block send/receive.
    • Follow the guidance in Fix your Outlook email connection by repairing your profile. If a repair does not work, create a new profile and re-add the Gmail account, then test send/receive.
    1. Start Outlook in safe mode to rule out add-ins
    • Some add-ins can prevent sending or receiving.
    • Press the Windows key, type: outlook.exe /safe and press Enter.
    • If send/receive works in safe mode, create a new Outlook profile as described in Create an Outlook profile and use that profile going forward.
    1. Repair the Outlook installation
    • A damaged Outlook installation can cause repeated send/receive and account-setup errors.
    • Run an Office repair as described in Repair an Office application, then restart the computer and test Outlook again.
    1. Check antivirus email scanning
    • Some antivirus products scan email and can block send/receive if they detect an issue.
    • Temporarily disable only the email-scanning component (not all protection) or contact the antivirus vendor’s help desk as suggested under Contact your antivirus software's help desk, then test Outlook.
    1. Run the Inbox Repair Tool (PST repair)
    • If the Gmail account is configured to deliver to a local PST, corruption in the PST can cause send/receive failures.
    • Run the Inbox Repair Tool as described in Run the Inbox Repair Tool, then restart Outlook and test.
    1. Use Microsoft’s classic Outlook troubleshooters
    • Go to the Classic Outlook troubleshooters page from Issues sending and receiving email and run the relevant troubleshooter for send/receive problems.
    • If the troubleshooters do not resolve the issue, use the contact support option on that page to escalate.

If none of these steps resolve the problem, the next step is to continue working with Microsoft support using the Issues sending and receiving email article’s support path, since that is the documented escalation route when all standard troubleshooting has been exhausted.
