Are these ads showing as pop ups in Edge or inside specific websites or games?

Open Edge, go to Settings, then Privacy, search, and services, then under Security turn on Block potentially unwanted apps. Next go to Cookies and site permissions, select Pop ups and redirects, and turn on Block. Then open Notifications, review the Allow list, and remove any unknown sites. Also check Extensions, disable or remove anything you do not recognize. Finally run Windows Security, choose Virus and threat protection, then run a full scan to remove any adware.

Ads in Outlook and Outlook Mobile are shown to all free Outlook.com accounts, including when using Outlook on Windows 11 or Microsoft Edge. A separate paid service (for example, another Microsoft subscription or game service) does not remove these Outlook ads.

To stop seeing ads in Outlook:

1. Upgrade the Outlook.com email account to a Microsoft 365 subscription that includes an ad-free Outlook experience.
2. Make sure the Outlook.com address that has the active Microsoft 365 subscription is the same one signed in to Outlook/Edge.
3. Check subscription status at https://account.microsoft.com/services to confirm it is active and associated with the correct Outlook.com account.

If ads are appearing in Outlook Mobile (iOS/Android/Mac):

1. Ensure there is an active Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription.
2. Add the email address used to purchase that subscription as an account in Outlook.
3. Verify the subscription status at https://account.microsoft.com/services and confirm it has not expired.

If there is no Microsoft 365 subscription tied to the Outlook.com account being used, ads will continue to appear even if other services are paid until June.

To reduce personalization of ads (but not remove them):

1. Go to the Microsoft privacy dashboard at https://account.microsoft.com/privacy/ad-settings.
2. Adjust ad settings or turn off personalized ads.
