Follow these steps to resolve the Microsoft Authenticator sign-in issue when the code or prompt from the phone is not accepted:

    1. Make sure the Authenticator app is unlocked
      • Open Microsoft Authenticator on the phone and ensure it is not locked by a PIN/biometric or app lock screen.
      • After unlocking, try the sign-in to GTS again.
    2. Check notifications on the phone
      • Ensure push notifications are enabled for Microsoft Authenticator (and any Company Portal/primary Microsoft app used for sign-in).
      • If using SMS or text codes, check the Messages app, including any silent or filtered folders.
    3. Confirm the code entry and timing
      • If entering a 6‑digit code from Authenticator, make sure it is taken from the correct account in the app and entered before it expires.
      • If the sign-in is asking for “Approve” or “Enter the number shown”, make sure the prompt in Authenticator matches what is on the GTS sign-in screen.
    4. Update and check device settings
      • Ensure Microsoft Authenticator is updated to the latest version.
      • Confirm the phone has a working internet connection (try switching between Wi‑Fi and mobile data).
      • Verify the device date and time are set correctly (prefer “Set automatically”).
    5. If the app still will not complete login
      • Complete the login process directly in the Authenticator, Company Portal, or primary Microsoft app on the device if prompted.
      • If multiple attempts have failed, wait a short period before trying again, or use another MFA method if one is configured (such as SMS, alternate email, or another device).
    6. If access is still blocked
      • For work systems like GTS and timecards, contact the organization’s IT administrator or help desk and report that “Authenticator did not complete login” or that the phone code is not being accepted. The admin can check Microsoft Entra sign-in logs, reset MFA methods, or help with password reset if needed.
