I understand that you are having issue with double charge. I truly understand how you feel. Let me assist you further.

    1. To identify the charge
    1. For refunding, please contact support for the best assistance:

Once you’ve tried the steps above, you can also reach out directly to the Microsoft Support team. It may offer live chat and, depending on your subscription/region, an option to request a callback:

    • Go to https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact
    • Search for "Refund Microsoft 365 subscription" in the search box.
    • Click "Get Help", then scroll to the bottom and select "Contact Support”.
    • When prompted to select Products & Services, select Billing> Subscriptions> Charged unexpectedly / Refund
    • Look for and select "Chat with a support agent in your web browser". Once connect, explain your situation clearly.

Please note that the chat support team only works during certain working hours. Therefore, if the last window indicates that you are unavailable, try opening it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. That way, they can call you and help you.

Please understand that this is a user‑to‑user support forum. Moderators, contributors, and external Microsoft staff cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back‑end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas. Still, I will do my best to assist you with everything I can.

For a duplicate charge of $39.99 for the same product, the next steps are:

    1. Confirm the duplicate charge:
      • Sign in and review the order history for the Microsoft account used to buy the product.
      • Look for two purchases for the same amount ($39.99) for the same product in February 2026 that appear close together.
      • Use this page to review: Review your order history.
    2. Check for multiple accounts or cards:
      • If only one $39.99 charge appears in the Microsoft account order history but two charges appear on the bank/credit card statement, there may be another Microsoft account using the same card.
      • Go to Manage your payments / Payment options and select Investigate to search for other accounts using the card: Manage your payments.
    3. If it is confirmed as a duplicate charge for the same order:
      • Have the Microsoft account sign-in and the order number(s) ready.
      • Contact Microsoft Store Support and explain that there are two $39.99 charges for the same product and date, and request a refund of the second charge: contact Microsoft Store Support.
    4. If the charge is tied to a subscription (for example, a Microsoft 365 or other Microsoft subscription):
      • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in.
      • Find the subscription, select Manage, then Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel) and follow the instructions.
      • If eligible, request a refund following the subscription refund process described in the refund article.

If the charge is not recognized or might be unauthorized, use the billing charge investigation flow first:

    • Go to Manage your payments and select Investigate next to the payment method to identify what the charge is for and which account used it.
