Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

According to the Microsoft article below, if you remove all of your previous security information and replace it with something new, your account will be put into a restricted state for 30 days. Unfortunately, Microsoft cannot speed up or expedite the process.

    See

What does “Security info change is still pending” mean?

To cancel the security info change, you can click the 'Cancel this request' option at the bottom of the screen.

Microsoft always recommends that account users have at least three verification methods. This way, if one method becomes disabled or inactive, you can still sign in using another method.

So, in this situation, try canceling the security info change you made. However, I am not sure whether canceling the security info change request will take another 30 days to revert to the old one. So,

You could have tried options like:

    • Connecting your device to another network, such as a mobile network, and checking whether you receive the verification code.
    • Checking whether your phone is blocking texts from unknown numbers.
    • If you are still having issues, signing in to your PC in Safe Mode and trying to reset your password.

Since you have replaced your security info, you may be blocked when verifying your identity now.

Security info changes and verification-code delivery are tightly controlled for Microsoft accounts, and support cannot override the 30‑day restriction once it is in place.

Key points and options based on the described situation:

    1. Why the 30‑day wait is happening
    • When all existing security info (like the original phone number) is replaced, Microsoft treats this as a high‑risk change.
    • To protect the account, a 30‑day restriction is applied before the new security info becomes fully usable for sensitive actions such as unlocking devices or changing key settings.
    • This restriction cannot be shortened by support agents; they are not allowed to bypass it or manually send verification codes.
    1. If the old phone or email is still accessible at any point
    • If access to any of the original security info is regained during the 30‑day period, it can still be used to sign in and approve actions, and doing so cancels the pending security‑info change.
    • That is the only supported way to avoid waiting out the full 30 days.
    1. If there is no access to the old security info
    • The account must go through the full 30‑day replacement period before the new phone number becomes fully active for all security operations.
    • During this period, some actions (including certain sign‑ins and device unlock scenarios tied to that Microsoft account) may remain blocked.
    1. If verification codes are not arriving on any method
    • Confirm that the code is being sent to a valid method:
      • Sign in to the Security basics page and choose Update info, then select a method that is known to work, or choose I don't have any of these to start replacing security info.
    • Common reasons codes do not arrive:
      • Excessive or repetitive requests can cause temporary blocking of code delivery.
      • Phone blocking texts from unknown numbers, full SMS inbox, or malfunctioning messaging app.
      • VOIP numbers cannot be used for sign‑in or verification codes; only mobile numbers are supported.
      • Regional SMS issues or heavy compromised traffic from the region can delay or block delivery temporarily.
    • If using an alternate Outlook/Hotmail/Live/MSN email as the verification address, sign in to that mailbox in a separate InPrivate/Incognito window so both accounts can stay signed in long enough to read and enter the code.
    1. When nothing works and sign‑in is blocked
    • If no verification method works and the account is effectively locked, the only supported path is:
      • Use the sign‑in helper if unable to sign in at all.
      • If still blocked, complete the Microsoft account recovery form to prove ownership and wait for the process to complete.
    • Support agents cannot:
      • Send verification codes on behalf of the system.
      • Shorten the 30‑day security‑info change period.
      • Directly change security info or bypass 2‑step verification.
    1. About the laptop and daily files
    • If the Windows sign‑in on the laptop is tied to the same Microsoft account and requires online verification that cannot be completed, access may remain blocked until the account security change completes or until one of the original verification methods becomes available.
    • There is no supported way in the provided documentation to bypass Microsoft account security on the device without satisfying the verification requirements.
    1. Additional help
    • If still not receiving verification codes on any method, another method must be chosen where possible, or the process must wait until the listed phone/email is accessible again.
    • For further technical assistance (not to override security), use the Contact Microsoft Support flow described in the documentation. Agents can guide through the documented recovery options but cannot unlock or shortcut the security hold.
