New install corrupted

I have installed a version of 'Office Home' on a Mac using a newly purchased product key.

An old version was already installed.

The new version has been installed with the old email embedded. I do not have access to that email so my documents are all read only.

How do I do a new clean install? Can I start again using the same product key?

Hi Colin, Welcome in Community

Start by closing all Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Download the official Microsoft License Removal Tool and open the .pkg file from your Downloads folder to launch the installer.

How to remove Office license files on a Mac - Microsoft Support

Complete the installation process, and when the message confirms that the removal was successful, close the tool. Then open Word directly. At this point, the app should ask you to sign in.

Make sure you log in using the same email address that was originally used to redeem the product key.

If not solved, navigate to your Applications folder and drag Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook directly to the Trash.

Next, you need to access the hidden Library folders to remove the leftover configuration files. Open Finder, select Go from the top menu bar, choose Go to Folder, and type

~/Library/Containers.

Search for any folders beginning with

com.microsoft

nd move them to the Trash.

After that, return to the Go to Folder menu and enter

~/Library/Group Containers.

Look specifically for folders named

UBF8T346G9.ms, UBF8T346G9.Office, and UBF8T346G9.OfficeOsfWebHost

and delete them as well. To finalize the process, empty your Trash and restart your Mac before attempting a fresh installation from your Microsoft account page.

Let me know how it goes

Elvis
