Hi, I am unable to sign in to Azure Portal (portal.azure.com) because it requires a 6-digit MFA verification code, but my Microsoft Authenticator app only generates 8-digit OTP codes

Microsoft Security | Microsoft Entra | Microsoft Entra ID

    Hi Brian FUNG ,

Login into https://admin.cloud.microsoft.com from an inprivate window

Use this as email address: PII

For password, click on forgot my password and enter the CAPTCHA. After that you’ll see an option to send email Otp to your email account. On next page enter the Otp and reset the password. After that access the same url again on new tab https://admin.cloud.microsoft.com

Login using the same account: .  PII

Enter your new password Let me know if you were able to login into this portal without MFA prompt.

If you got access to admin portal without MFA prompt. Please follow below steps:

Now to reset MFA on your main account.

Create a new user and assign global admin role while creating that user in admin portal.

Once you create a new user, try to login into portal.azure.com with this new global admin account. Complete the signin by setting up MFA

Then navigate to Microsoft entra id >> users >> select your admin user account >> authentication methods >> click on require re-register MFA.

Once it’s successful. You can login back to azure using your admin account and setup your MFA
