Look at the function keys (F1 - F12) on your keyboard, if one of them has a camera icon, press that key or Fn + that key to unlock the webcam.

If that was not the problem, look at the camera lens above your screen, is there a small privacy slider that needs to be opened to access the webcam?

Ensure all apps have permission to access your webcam.

Try these steps in order:

1. Check physical camera controls on the HP Envy
   • Look at the top of the screen for a small privacy slider over the camera lens and make sure it is open (lens fully visible).

2. Test the camera in the Windows Camera app

4. Run the Camera troubleshooter
   • Go to Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
   • Find Camera and select Run.
5. Check antivirus or security software
   • Open the antivirus/firewall app from Start.
   • Look for any webcam protection or camera blocking feature and temporarily disable it, then test the camera.

If the camera still shows as blocked after these steps, reinstalling the HP webcam driver from the HP support site for the specific Envy model is recommended.
