Defederation from GoDaddy is handled between GoDaddy and Microsoft 365 and must follow GoDaddy’s supported process to avoid sign-in and service issues.

For a Microsoft 365 tenant that was provisioned through GoDaddy and is still “federated” to GoDaddy:

1. Follow GoDaddy’s official guidance to move Microsoft 365 email away from GoDaddy
   • Use GoDaddy’s documented process to move your Microsoft 365 email off their platform:

   • This process covers how to separate your domain and mailboxes from GoDaddy’s hosted Microsoft 365 environment and transition to direct Microsoft 365 management.
2. Work with GoDaddy support to release the domain (if applicable)
   • If sign-in is being redirected to GoDaddy or admin access is blocked, the domain is likely tied to a GoDaddy-provisioned Microsoft 365 tenant.
   • Contact GoDaddy support and request that they release your custom domain from the GoDaddy Microsoft 365 tenant.
