My account and MS Store will not accept VISA or MASTERCARD details.

Many attempts on several cards say:

Check that the details in all fields are correct or try a different card.

Suggestion to ensure name and address on card.

Help screens cycle back to Q&A screen to start again.

What am I doing wrong?

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

Kindly try the following workarounds according to Microsoft Agent | Moderator Prakhar_Khare, who answered a similar case: https://learn.microsoft.com/answers/questions/3193503/error-check-the-info-you-entered-it-doesnt-match-t?forum=windows-all&referrer=answers

"A few of the things you can check while entering the details:

    1. Enter your name precisely as it appears on the card. Only include your middle initial if it appears on your card.
    2. If this is a company card, enter the company name as both a first name and last name. For example, if the company name is "Contoso Shoes" split the company name into the first and last name fields.
    3. If the company only has one name, for example, "Contoso," enter the company name in both the first and last name fields.
    4. If you are asked to enter the address and it exceeds the Address 1 field, use the Address 2 field. Do not shorten or abbreviate your address.
    5. The card number and type cannot be edited, so if you make a mistake, you'll need to add a new one with the correct information. Other credit card information can be edited, such as billing address and expiration date.

The behavior usually means the payment method or its details do not meet Microsoft’s validation rules, or there is an issue with the account/billing profile rather than with the cards themselves. Work through these checks in order:

    1. Confirm the card type and region are supported
    • VISA and Mastercard are generally supported, but not all card types are:
      • Prepaid and virtual cards are not accepted for Microsoft Marketplace/Azure and can also fail in Microsoft Store.
      • Some regions only support credit cards (for example, Hong Kong SAR and Brazil) and not debit cards.
      • In India, only Visa and Mastercard debit/credit are supported; American Express is not.
    • If using a prepaid, virtual, or regionally unsupported card, switch to a standard bank-issued credit or debit card supported in the account’s country/region.
    1. Verify country/region and address alignment
    • The country/region set on the Microsoft account, Microsoft Store, and Windows device must match the billing country of the card.
    • Ensure:
      • Microsoft account region matches the card’s billing country.
      • Windows region and Microsoft Store region are set to the same country as the card.
    • If the card is from a different country than the Microsoft account/Store region, it will typically be rejected.
    1. Add or update the card via the Microsoft account billing portal Instead of only using the Store checkout flow, add the card directly to the account:
    2. Go to the Payment options page of the Microsoft account dashboard (sign in when prompted).
    3. Select Add a new payment method.
    4. Enter all card details carefully:
      • Card number, expiry date, and CVV.
      • Name exactly as printed on the card.
      • Billing address exactly as on the bank statement.
      • If the card is not accepted, try entering the postal code with and without spaces as suggested.
    5. After it is added successfully, return to Microsoft Store and try the purchase again.
    6. Check for common data-entry and account issues
    • Ensure there are no overdue subscriptions or account suspensions:
      • Check for past-due subscription payments on the Services page.
      • Confirm the Microsoft account is not temporarily suspended.
      • If using Xbox services, verify the Xbox account is not suspended.
    • Make sure antivirus or browser security is not blocking payment pop-ups or confirmation windows.
    • Confirm the card is not expired and has available credit.
    1. Check with the bank/card issuer
    • Ask the bank to confirm:
      • The card is active and not blocked.
      • International/online transactions are enabled.
      • No fraud rules are blocking Microsoft or online marketplace transactions.
    1. If still failing, try alternative payment methods
    • Where available, add a different supported method to the Microsoft account (for example, bank account, PayPal with a confirmed funding source, or mobile phone billing), then use that in Microsoft Store.

If all details are correct, the region matches, the card is active and supported, and it still fails, the next step is to contact Microsoft Support or use the guided Store/billing troubleshooters referenced below so the billing team can review the account and payment attempts.
