Hi Tracey Cee,
I understand how frustrating this situation is, to follow what appeared to be an official prompt, and it suddenly left you with a full storage account. Unfortunately, there is no way to “undo” or roll back a OneDrive backup automatically.
Your option is either buying more storage or manually deleting the newly backed up data. The Q&A Assist has already given the details, so here’s the short step-by-step on what to do:
- If the syncing you turned on is not one time thing and still running, turn it off.
- On your PC, go to [OneDrive.live.com] > sign in with your Microsoft account
- Since your storage is full, there should be a red warning banner on top screen.
- Click Manager storage > check exactly what's taking the most space in your storage
- On Free up space line, choose the location of that used most space (e.g. I use "OneDrive" here)
- It'll show Largest files in your OneDrive > select files you don't need and click Delete (top menu) e.g.
- Immediately go to Recycle bin (left side) > click Empty recycle bin (if there's nothing important)
- That will give you more space to now delete the previously added files > Go to My files > Sort:
- Select Modified column > sort Newer to older > locate and delete the added files
- Select the File size collum > sort Larger to smaller > delete the big files.
- After deleting, you need to empty the Recycle bin (step 7) to actually release storage.
I know this isn’t ideal, but OneDrive has no restore point to return storage usage to a previous percentage. If you’re unsure which folder is safe to remove or which category caused the jump to 100%, feel free to reply with screenshot of Storage summary (like my first screenshot) and I can help you identify it.
