When you configure policies, they won't apply to the Group Policy and if you configure Group Policy, they will apply in the Windows Firewall. In general in this setting you may setup all Firewall settings. The Windows Firewall has basic configuration like enable or disable it but the Advanced Windows Firewall has more options like configuring ports, application, allow/deny roles and so on. They are not different but you have basic settings in Windows Firewall and more advance settings in the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.
Need difference between firewall and firewall with advanced security
Hi All
I have a server 2016 connected to workgroup and enabled firewall on all the 3 profiles. But when I checked below path in Local group policy editor all 3 profiles are set as not configured
Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Windows Firewall with Advanced Security\Windows Firewall with Advanced Security
so wanted to know the difference between them, will there be any conflicts if I enable both options and change the log path and logs file size.
Thanks

Windows Defender Firewall helps secure your Windows device by filtering the network traffic permitted to enter or exit your device. Windows 10 has introduced basic firewall settings in its Settings app, but for full control of the Windows Defender Firewall, it sends you to the Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security.
