    Dear Ms. Hillebrand,

We would like to explain once again why adding a payment method to your Microsoft account was temporarily blocked.

The block is not applied arbitrarily, but is a mandatory security measure by Microsoft. These policies are designed to reliably protect both your customer account and your payment data from unauthorized access.

If certain activities or patterns are classified by the system as potentially unusual, the addition of new payment methods is automatically restricted—regardless of the individual case.

We are aware that this may cause delays. However, these steps are essential in order to maintain the security standards that Microsoft applies worldwide to all customers. We therefore ask for your understanding that we cannot bypass these processes.

We apologize for the waiting time incurred.

A thorough review has now been completed, and the restriction has been lifted. You can now add your payment method again as usual:

We thank you for your cooperation and remain at your disposal should you have any further questions.

    Dear John,

    1. I already received a "solution" but this was not put in practice.
    2. It is not a "new" country. I have not signed up in Germany before.
    3. There are diplomats, there is UN staff, there are all kinds of expats. Do you think all of those all of those should not be able to have a Microsoft prescription?

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

Microsoft 365 subscription is tied to the country and currency where it was originally purchased. Because of that, the system won’t let you extend the subscription or set up auto-billing using a payment method from your new country.

What you can do instead is cancel your current subscription and wait for it to expire (or you can cancel it early if possible). Once it’s fully expired, you can purchase a new Microsoft 365 subscription using your correct country and billing information.

I really hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Regards,

    John J.D.
