Hi,

So heres the issue, I use Windows 11 Pro and i use notepad and vms alot, when i use them both suddently a bunch of help windows pop-up, Notepad basically...When I open any .txt file or really anything with notepad, It opens firefox and starts spamming tabs with a search saying "get help in notepad with windows" and in any app with a help thingy it just spams help windows IDK whats going on I dont think theres anything wrong with my F1 key as I use it in games and it works perfectly with no help stuff for some reason, and I've tried everything I've deleted HelpPane.exe, I edited the registry and I've been trying my best but nothing works. Any help will be appreciated, Thanks.

Hi,

It's possible that the F1 key is stuck, which could trigger the "get help" webpage in your browser.

You may use the following portal to check if the F1 keypress is being triggered.

https://keyboardchecker.com/

The above portal helps you identify stuck keys. These tools display a virtual keyboard that highlights keys in real-time, showing which keys are held down (stuck), working, or faulty.

If F1 shows up in green on that portal without you doing anything, the keyboard may need to be replaced.

Thanks for the answer, I tried the website and F1 didn't flash green.

The website needs to be in focus. For example, if you open Notepad and keep the focus on it and open the browser window side by side, the keypress event may not be detected by that portal.

If the focus is on the browser and the F1 key press event is still not detected, that's weird. We may be able to narrow down the problem by clean booting the system.

A clean boot is the process of starting Windows without loading any third-party applications or services.

Launch msconfig.exe and select the Services tab.

Enable the Hide all Microsoft services checkbox. This is an important step. (Now, the list will contain only the 3rd party services.)

Click Disable all.

Click OK.

Restart Windows.

Additionally, disable all the startup apps using Task Manager.

Open Task Manager. In Task Manager, on the Startup apps tab, for each Enabled startup item, select the item, then select Disable. (Keep track of which items have been Disabled. You will need to know this later.)

Restart Windows.

I appreciate the tips, but its still the same, and also I found out Disk Management does this too it spams firefox tabs with a search saying "windows 10 disk management" or something like that

Somehow, the F1 key is stuck. If this is a desktop computer, please try replacing the keyboard.
