When Copilot first showed up Outlook, I spent some time and found a way to turn it off. It's back. How do I get rid of it? Is there a way to remove it without having to change email providers?

In the new Outlook for Windows, Copilot can be turned off per account using the built‑in Copilot setting; changing email providers is not required.

To turn off Copilot in new Outlook for Windows:

  1. Open Outlook (new Outlook for Windows).
  2. Select Settings (gear icon).
  3. Choose Copilot.
  4. Turn off the Turn on Copilot toggle.

This setting applies to Outlook for that account across all devices where that account is used (for example, Outlook on the web or mobile), so Copilot will stop appearing without needing to change providers.

If the Copilot toggle is not available yet in Outlook, Copilot can be turned off by changing Microsoft 365 account privacy settings instead. Note that this also disables other cloud‑based intelligent features (such as suggested replies and text predictions):

  1. In any Microsoft 365 app on Windows (for example, Word or PowerPoint), go to File > Account > Account Privacy > Manage Settings.
  2. Under Connected experiences, clear Turn on experiences that analyze your content.
  3. Select OK, then close and restart the app.

This privacy change affects all Microsoft 365 apps for that account, including Outlook.
