Question

I purchased Windows Server 2025 and downloaded it into this laptop (I did not know that this program could not be downloaded on this Acer Nitro 5 Laptop. Can you please help me to master reset this device. The help me to download the Windows 11 Professional - Lifetime License for 1 PC OS and drivers back into this device. Thank You.

Follow these steps to get the laptop back to Windows 11 and working again.

1. Decide how to reinstall Windows 11

There are two main options:

1. Reset this PC (if Windows still boots or WinRE is available)
   This reinstalls Windows from the existing recovery image.
2. Clean install using installation media (USB)
   This is best if the current install is badly broken or the wrong edition/OS is installed.

Because Windows Server was installed on a consumer laptop, a clean install of Windows 11 using installation media is the most reliable approach.

2. Create Windows 11 installation media (on a working PC)

On another working PC:

1. Go to the official page to create the installation media for Windows (Media Creation Tool).
   Follow the steps in the article: create the installation media for Windows.
2. Use the tool to create a bootable USB for Windows 11.

3. Boot the Acer Nitro 5 from the USB

1. Insert the Windows 11 USB into the Acer Nitro 5.
2. Power it on and use the manufacturer’s key (often F2, F12, Esc, or Del) to open the boot menu/BIOS.
3. Select the USB drive as the boot device.
4. The Windows 11 Setup screen should appear.

4. Perform a clean install of Windows 11

In Windows Setup on the Nitro 5:

1. Choose language, time, and keyboard settings → Next.
2. Select Install Windows 11.
3. When prompted about data deletion, confirm:
   Select I agree everything will be deleted including files, apps, and settings → Next.
4. If a Product key window appears:
   • Select I don't have a product key.
   • In Select Image, choose the correct edition that matches the license purchased (for example, Windows 11 Pro).
     Once Windows is installed, it will try to activate automatically using the digital license linked to the device or Microsoft account.

This process is a clean install and will:

• Remove personal files
• Remove apps
• Remove manufacturer customizations
• Remove all settings changes

5. If Windows still boots and a reset is preferred instead

If Windows 11 is already on the device and can boot, or if WinRE is available, a reset is possible instead of a full clean install:

1. Open Settings → System → Recovery.
2. Under Recovery options, select Reset PC.
3. Choose:
   • Remove everything to fully wipe apps, settings, and personal files, or
   • Keep my files to keep personal files but remove apps and settings.
4. Choose Cloud download (fresh copy from Microsoft) or Local reinstall (uses files on the PC).
5. Follow on‑screen instructions until reset completes.

Reset options summary:

• Keep my files: reinstalls Windows, removes apps and settings, keeps personal files.
• Remove everything: reinstalls Windows, removes all files, apps, and settings; can optionally clean data to make file recovery harder.
• Cloud download: downloads a fresh copy of Windows.
• Local reinstall: reinstalls from existing files on the PC.

Before resetting, back up any important files if possible and ensure any BitLocker recovery key is available if the drive is encrypted.

6. After Windows 11 is installed

1. Connect to the internet so Windows can:
   • Activate using the Windows 11 Pro license (digital license or product key).
   • Download drivers via Windows Update.
2. Install any remaining device‑specific drivers from Acer’s support site if needed.
3. Reinstall apps and restore personal files from backup.
