Keyboard Installation

Question

Hello to you, I purchased a used, wireless keyboard, Microsoft 3050 model 1729 SN 0924101263844. I did not receive either the User Guide or the USB module. How can I install it with Windows 11? Thank you for your attention.

In addition to what were mentioned in the Q&A Assist, you should install the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center tool to customize your keys.

As mentioned, you'll need the transceiver or the USB dongle. Otherwise, the keyboard will be useless. If it’s not included, reach out to the person you bought it from.

The Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3050 keyboard connects using its dedicated USB wireless receiver. Windows 11 does not support pairing this model directly over Bluetooth, and it cannot be used without the matching USB module (receiver/dongle).

Without that USB receiver, the keyboard cannot be installed or used on Windows 11. The only options are:

1. Obtain the original USB receiver that was paired with this specific keyboard (for example, from the seller).
2. Replace the keyboard with a complete Microsoft wireless set that includes its own receiver, or use a Bluetooth keyboard that can pair directly with Windows 11.

If a compatible receiver is obtained and plugged into a USB port on the Windows 11 PC, Windows will automatically install the necessary drivers and the keyboard should start working without needing a manual user guide.
