Security Blocking

Please help! I am by no means "computer literate" and have no idea why this problem has arose. I'm suddenly unable to log into an online banking account in Chrome on a laptop that I've always used. When I enter all of my log in information, I get an error message "This page isn't working. secureinternetbank.com didn't send any data" I'm able to log into the site on other laptops/computers, which is fine, however, I need to be able to log in on my laptop. Any advice on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I’m Virginia a fellow Windows user.

Are you using Chrome by Google as your browser or Chrome based Edge? If Chrome then try using Edge.

Are you running any third party antivirus software &/or a virtual Private network software? If yes then disable these & try again. Check also for any adblocker programs or extensions in the browser which may be preventing a genuine popup from the bank’s security.

Try deleting the cookies & cache of the browser, be aware this will sign you out of all accounts.

As a last resort try a non Chrome browser like Firefox as a test to see if the problem is the same.

The issue is likely related to browser security, cookies, or security software on that specific laptop blocking the banking site, rather than a problem with the bank itself (since it works on other devices).

Try these steps on the affected laptop in order:

    1. Clear the browser cache and cookies for the banking site
      • In Chrome, clear browsing data (cached images/files and cookies). Then close and reopen Chrome and try again.
    2. Check security software or web protection
      • If security software (such as an antivirus or internet security suite) is installed, check whether it is blocking the banking site or its secure connection. Temporarily re‑enable any web protection features that were turned off or, if recently changed, restore them to defaults. A similar case was resolved by correcting settings in a security product so secure sites could load again.
    3. Verify the site is secure and legitimate
      • Confirm the address bar shows https and a closed padlock icon before entering any banking credentials. If the browser usually fills in the username/password automatically and now does not, double‑check that the address is exactly the same as the bank’s official site to avoid fake or unsafe pages.
    4. Avoid public or shared networks
      • Perform banking only from a private, trusted network (for example, home Wi‑Fi) and not from public Wi‑Fi or a shared computer, as unreliable or filtered networks can interfere with secure connections.

If the problem persists only on this laptop after these steps, contact the bank’s support from another device and ask whether any additional security (for example, device or IP blocking) might be affecting that specific computer.
