Hello, I have a very corrupt version of Insider Edition on both my Desktop and Laptop pc's and had co-pilot attempt to help me get rid of it with repair installations, etc. and it had me make registry changes all over the place to hide the GUI of things that were not uninstalling, etc. The store is massively corrupt and doesn't associate itself with my pc, my account, etc as well. I am in a constant state of server side lockouts for weeks now and the only way to fix the message "Account blocked We have detected that your account is blocked due to multiple incorrect password attempts" is to do a password reset and account recovery every day so far this past week. I'm logged into my account yet it will not allow me to log into 365Personal Edition and when at sign in window I enter my email address and get a window popup then immediately closes. When it doesn't disappear and I get a chance to enter my password it says incorrect password entered at the same time I'm already signed into my account. Copilot says that this is a Microsoft Server side Account Lockout. My previous OS was Windows 10 and 11 Enterprise and I had set up something in Azure or Entra or both that I believe had to do with the Authenticator app which doesn't work any longer. My goal is to get rid of all remnents of Enterprise Edition, Insider Builds, etc. and they will not go away and stay away. Even clean installs are breaking when I log back into my Microsoft Account that I've had for years. No level of Microsoft Support help has gotten to even fix any of the above mentioned topics and I've been left unable to work or have any programs properly work due to this mess. I'm logged in but the store doesn't recognize the machine even though both laptop and desktop pc's show up in my Account profile page under devices. When I try and sign into the store, 365 personal, everywhere else it blocks me from logging in saying I have entered incorrect password every time. I'm paying Microsoft for these bs licenses and they have basically hijacked my system with so many blocks that I do not have access to my documents either. They are all locked with file box looking brown icons on all my files and they won't allow me to open them. They were selectively syncing with dropbox and they are now saying that I don't have access to them or the files have been corrupted. This is a cascading life destroying serious problem that is getting worse by the day. How do I actually reach a real person in the U.S. that can actually help? I've got 170 scheduled tasks running where most said they last ran in 1999 and others have dates out into the mid 2050s or later. Certificates all over the pc are expired a long time ago or the apps point to a 2016 version of Office that I purchased through the store. Instead of 365 opening and working it defaults to the 2016 version at the system level under folders where it shows root/2016. I've really had it with paying for software that is broken and no way to get out of Microsoft Hell. It's just like Hotel California. You can come join insider edition and enterprise and NEVER LEAVE. I need someone from the microsoft team to get my profile out of the server side lockout and out of tagging my account and devices with all these settings that turn back on after they are changed, changing my pc name on reboots at times, and altering tasks, services, processes running. Now co-pilot assisted me in breaking it further. Any help would be greatly appreciated from anyone out there as I've had it not being able to speak with a human who actually knows how to help versus feeling like I'm being pawned off to the latest hacker or person who doesn't know what the heck they are doing or just plainly hanging up as soon as I get in touch and then closing out my cases in support. I just want a clean installation of Windows 11 Pro Retail Edition with both of my computers and not fighting the store, profile corruption, windows corruption, or broken security loops. Thank you!

    Hi Ray,

If you are in the Release Preview Channel

    then delete this Registry Key and reboot;

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost

    Hi Ray,

Build 26200.8246 is not an Insider Edition

unless you're in the Release Preview Channel.

Go to Settings, Windows Update, Windows

Insider Program and tell us what channel is showing.

You can Unenroll your device from there also.

Also, this is not an Enterprise forum you're posting on.

To completely leave Windows Insider builds and return to a stable Windows 11 Pro retail installation, two things are required:

    1. Unenroll the devices from the Insider Program (so they stop receiving preview builds).
    2. Install a stable, non‑Insider build of Windows 11 Pro (either via in‑place install or clean install, depending on the build/channel).

Because the environment is heavily corrupted and involves Insider builds, the safest path is a clean installation on both devices, followed by re‑signing in only after Windows is fully installed and updated.

    1. Unenroll each device from Insider builds

    On each PC:

    1. Open Settings.
    2. Go to Windows Update > Windows Insider Program (or on Windows 10: Update & Security > Windows Insider Program).
    3. Select Stop Insider Preview Builds / Stop getting preview builds.
    4. Follow the prompts to unenroll the device.

If the device is in the Dev/Canary channel and is already on a high Insider build, unenrollment alone will not move it back to stable; a reinstall is still required.

    2. Determine if a clean install is required

From the guidance in the context:

    • If the device is on a Canary channel build 27xxx, the only supported way back to stable is a clean install of Windows 11.
    • If the device is on a 26xxx build, it is possible to move to a released version with an in‑place install using a stable ISO.

Given the level of corruption and account issues described, a clean install is strongly recommended even if an in‑place path might be technically possible.

    3. Perform a clean install of stable Windows 11 Pro

    On each PC:

    1. From a working machine, go to the official Windows 11 download page referenced in the context and download the Media Creation Tool or ISO.
    2. Create a bootable USB installer.
    3. Boot the affected PC from the USB.
    4. During setup, when asked where to install Windows:
      • Delete all existing partitions on the system drive.
      • Create a new partition and continue with setup.
    5. Complete setup using Windows 11 Pro (retail) and create a local account initially if desired, then add the Microsoft account later after confirming the OS is stable.

This removes Insider builds, Enterprise remnants, and registry changes, and returns the device to a clean, stable retail installation.

    4. In‑place repair option (if not on Canary and clean install is not desired)

If the build is in the 26xxx range and a clean install is not immediately possible:

    1. Open Registry Editor.
    2. Delete the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost.
    3. Restart the PC to stop receiving previews.
    4. Download the Windows 11 25H2 ISO that matches the system language from the official download site.
    5. Mount the ISO (double‑click it) and run setup.exe.
    6. Choose to keep files and apps (in‑place repair install).

This replaces the Insider build with the released 25H2 build while preserving data, and removes the Insider configuration.

    5. Account and support escalation

The account lockout and Microsoft 365 sign‑in issues are server‑side and require direct Microsoft account support. The context points to:

    • Using the Microsoft account help page to reach a support agent.
    • Using the “I need to talk to a customer support agent” option on that page to escalate to a human.

Given the severity (repeated lockouts, Authenticator issues, and subscription access problems), escalation through that channel is required to:

    • Clear any server‑side lockouts or security flags on the Microsoft account.
    • Verify and correct any Azure/Entra or Authenticator configuration that might be blocking sign‑in.

    6. After reinstall

After the clean or repaired install:

    1. Confirm Windows Update works and the device is no longer enrolled in any Insider channel.
    2. Sign in to the Microsoft Store and Microsoft 365 only after confirming the OS is stable.
    3. Reinstall Office/365 from the account page or Store as appropriate.

This combination of unenrolling, reinstalling stable Windows, and working with Microsoft account support is the supported way to fully leave Insider builds and return to a clean Windows 11 Pro retail environment.
