When the Bluetooth is not working on your laptop.

    1

Open the Settings App (gear icon on your Start Menu)

    Go to System - Troubleshoot

    Click 'Other Troubleshooters'

Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter from the resulting page

Check if Bluetooth is then working

    2

If not, open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

At the top of Device Manager, choose View - Show Hidden Devices

Does that show hidden Bluetooth device(s)

if so, right click and uninstall that

    Restart your PC

Check if Bluetooth is then working

    3

If Bluetooth is still not working, go to the support page for your PC on the manufacturers website, then from there, download and install the Bluetooth device drivers they recommend.

If you have any difficulty locating that support page, click your Start Button, then just type msinfo and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting System Information window.

Follow these steps in order on the Windows 11 laptop:

    1. Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter
      • Open the Get Help app and run the Windows Bluetooth troubleshooter. It will automatically run diagnostics and attempt to fix most Bluetooth problems.
      • If it fixes issues, test Bluetooth again.
    2. Check that Bluetooth is present and enabled
      • Select Search on the taskbar, type device manager, and select Device Manager.
      • Expand Bluetooth and confirm the Bluetooth adapter is listed (it may include the word “radio”).
      • If it is listed, right‑click it and select Enable device if it is disabled.
    3. Update the Bluetooth driver
      • In Device Manager, under Bluetooth, right‑click the Bluetooth adapter and select Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
      • Complete the wizard, then select Start > Power > Restart if prompted.
      • After restart, test Bluetooth again.
      • If Windows does not find a new driver, download the latest Bluetooth driver from the PC manufacturer’s website and install it (run the .exe, or use Update driver > Browse my computer for drivers and point to the downloaded driver files).
    4. Make sure Airplane mode is off
      • Press Windows + A to open Quick settings.
      • Ensure Airplane mode is turned Off, because it disables Bluetooth.
    5. Check for Windows updates (to fix both update and Bluetooth issues)
      • Select Start > Settings > Windows Update.
      • Select Check for updates and let Windows download and install any available updates.
      • Restart the device if required and test Bluetooth again.

If Bluetooth still disappears or stops working intermittently after these steps, repeat step 3 to ensure the latest driver is installed, and use the Bluetooth troubleshooter again from Get Help.
