New model release, same issue: no EU region support. Any timeline for when 5.5 will be available as a Data Zone Standard deployment?

Right now, the gpt-5.5 model under the Data Zone Standard deployment is only available in East US 2 and South-Central US.

There’s no public timeline yet for rolling Data Zone Standard out into any EU regions.

You can deploy gpt-5.5 under the Global Standard type, which already supports Sweden Central and Poland Central.

There’s no public timeline yet for rolling Data Zone Standard out into any EU regions yet.

What you can do in the meantime:

If EU coverage is a hard requirement today, you could deploy gpt-5.5 under the Global Standard type, which already supports Sweden Central and Poland Central.

Keep an eye on our official Announcements page for when Data Zone Standard expands to additional regions—any new EU availability will be posted there.

If you’d like to make sure this gets prioritized, consider filing a feature/region request through the Azure feedback portal.

I wanted to share an update. I was able to successfully deploy gpt-5.5 (2026-04-24) as a Data Zone Standard (EUR) deployment in a West Europe Azure OpenAI resource today using Azure AI Foundry/Portal.

However, attempting to create the exact same deployment through Terraform (azurerm_cognitive_deployment) fails with:

InvalidResourceProperties: The specified SKU 'DataZoneStandard' for model 'gpt-5.5 2026-04-24' is not supported in this region 'westeurope'.

This seems to suggest that the model is already available in the Portal experience, but there may be a discrepancy in the ARM API, provider validation, or deployment APIs used by Terraform.

Is there a known rollout difference between Portal and ARM/Terraform support for GPT-5.5 Data Zone Standard in West Europe?

Initial Terraform apply failed: DataZoneStandard for gpt-5.5 2026-04-24 not supported in westeurope.

Portal / Foundry created the same deployment (Data Zone Standard EUR) on the same account shortly after.

We imported it into Terraform state.

Later the same day, a second environment got gpt-5.5 via Terraform create with the same config — no portal, no SKU change.

Not sure what could possible happened here, but could be a recent regional rollout.

Yes, Thank you for the update.

As per latest document

GPT 5.5 seems to be supported in all US and Europe Standard regions for Data zone deployments now on 04th June 2026 now.

API version might block creation of resources here on template side.
