Grammar function not giving suggestions

Something changed when I purchased a new version of Word - the grammar function stopped working properly. It will highlight if something is perceived to be wrong but not provide any reason or alternatives for why. There is also no way to program acceptable grammar/spelling changes and so now writing and editing is extremely frustrating and challenges my neurodiversity. It is like nothing seems to be working the way it is supposed to now that I am healthy enough to try to write my second book. I do not understand why anything has changed or how to fix it. Can anybody please offer advice?

Hello. Can you please tell me what version of Word are you using?

Go to File → Account → look under “About Word” and tell me:

    • The version (for example: Microsoft 365, Word 2021, etc.)
    • The build number
