Request to Remove Payment Method

2026-04-26T11:23:21.6933333+00:00

Dear Microsoft Support,

I would like to request the removal of my payment method (Visa card ending with 3331) from my account.

Currently, I am unable to remove the card because it is linked to an active subscription. I kindly ask you to assist me in removing this payment method from my account.

Please let me know if any further action is required from my side.

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

You will have to turn off the automatic renewal first before removing the payment method by signing in to your account on account.microsoft.com > Subscriptions > Locate your subscription > click on "Manage" > then select "Turn off recurring billing"

Once it's done, go to "Payment Options" > Locate your payment method > then select Remove.

If the issue persists, you may contact Microsoft Billing Support for further assistance:

    https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact?SourceApp=smc2&ContactUsExperienceEntryPointAssetId=S.HP.SmcContactUsLanding

Type "remove payment method" > click "Get Help" > Scroll down to Sign in to Contact Support > Microsoft 365 and Office > Billing and Payment Updates > Confirm > Chat with a support agent in your web browser

Thank you for your understanding! Please let me know if you need anything else.

    Best regards,

    Darhyl

To remove the Visa card ending in 3331, the active subscription must first be moved to a different payment method, and only then can the card be deleted.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Add or choose another payment method
      1. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=2024339
      2. In Dashboard view, go to Bills & payments and select the Payment methods tab.
      3. Add a new payment method (for example, another credit/debit card) if there is no alternative payment method already available.
    2. Replace the current payment method for the subscription
      1. On the Payment methods tab, find the Visa card ending in 3331.
      2. Select the More actions button (three dots) for that card, then select Replace.
      3. In the Replace payment method wizard, under Choose payment method to move subscriptions, select either:
        • Use another payment method and choose an existing alternative, or
        • Add a payment method and enter a new card’s details.
      4. Select Next, review the details (current payment method, new payment method, and associated subscriptions or billing profiles), then select Replace payment method.
This moves the active subscription off the Visa card ending in 3331.
    3. Delete the old payment method
      1. Still on the Payment methods tab, select the More actions button for the Visa card ending in 3331 and choose Delete.
      2. In the Delete payment method wizard, confirm that there are no subscriptions linked (you should see a message like "No subscriptions linked to this payment method"), then select Delete payment method.

If the payment method is still attached to any subscription or billing profile, it cannot be deleted. In that case, ensure all subscriptions using that card have been moved to another payment method as described above.

If this is a personal/home subscription and not managed through an admin center, sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/services, move any active Microsoft 365 subscription to a different payment option, then remove the card from the Payment options page as described in Remove a Microsoft account payment method.
