Publisher migration

I use Publisher every year for an Angel Tree project. I merge MANY fields from a large spreadsheet with a tightly designed layout that ends up looking like a gift tag with a personalized message to the child. Plus it has tracking data that I incorporate with the design.
I don't understand how Microsoft can demolish a software that does such a good job of merging data with design and not replace it with anything.
I'm almost 70. Learning InDesign is NOT on my bucket list. What am I missing here? Does Microsoft really intend to have no way of replacing Publisher?
If not, will my subscription cost less?

If you wish to avoid a monthly subscription entirely, you can opt for a perpetual license of Microsoft Office Home and Business 2021. This "one-time purchase" allows you to own the software permanently for one computer, rather than paying an annual fee. While Microsoft is pushing users toward the subscription-based Office 365, they still offer these standalone versions for families and small businesses who prefer fixed costs. You can find this version from various reputable retailers.

A major benefit of purchasing a perpetual license for a version like Office Professional 2021 is that it specifically includes Microsoft Publisher alongside the standard apps like Word and Excel. Because this is a lifetime license for that specific year's edition, the software will not stop working when Microsoft retires Publisher from the 365 subscription service in 2026. This would allow you to keep your current Angel Tree workflow exactly as it is for as long as that computer remains functional. You will still receive security updates from Microsoft for a set period, though you won't get the new "AI" features that are currently driving up the prices of the subscription plans.
