I recently changed my laptop and I have this error when activating windows 11 pro 0xC004C060, I accidentally deleted the old laptop from my Microsoft account. What can I do now?

How did you obtain your license initially?

Did it come with the device preinstalled, or did you purchase it?

If you purchased it, did you purchase from Microsoft, or from third party?

Is it originally a Win7/8 key?

Just to make sure, is motherboard changed?

I bought the thirdparty key, it is for windows 11 pro, I bought a new laptop and sold the old one. When I sold the old laptop I reinstalled a new windows without activating windows. and now I'm trying to activate windows on my new laptop and I can't.

If it is third party license, you should have uninstalled it on the old laptop first, then use the same key on the new.

At this point, I am afraid only support can help you.

Contact support, but you need purchase proof.

On the next screen, click "Contact support" at the bottom of the page, then choose "Windows" > "Manage my subscription". You’ll then see the option to chat with a Microsoft support agent.

Error 0xC004C060 means the product key being used to activate Windows is no longer valid.

For Windows activation, this typically happens when:

The product key cannot be used to activate Windows (for example, it was blocked or is not a genuine key), or
The key has been used in a way that violates the Microsoft Software License Terms.

Since the key is reported as invalid, removing the old device from the Microsoft account does not restore or fix the key. The supported options are:

Use a different valid product key
- If there is another genuine Windows 11 Pro key (for example from a previous purchase, COA label, or email confirmation), enter it:
  - Select Start > Settings > System > Activation.
  - Select Change product key, then enter the 25‑character key.
Purchase a new Windows license
- If there is no other valid key, a new license is required:
  - Go to Start > Settings > System > Activation and choose the option to go to the Microsoft Store to buy a genuine Windows license.
Contact customer support if activation should be valid
- If Windows 11 Pro was upgraded from a properly activated and eligible device and activation still fails with 0xC004C060 after waiting and retrying, contact Microsoft customer support using the path provided in the activation error page.

Deleting the old laptop from the Microsoft account prevents using the standard activation troubleshooter path to transfer a digital license from that device; if the key itself is now blocked (0xC004C060), the resolution is to use another valid key or purchase a new one.
