Are you using a laptop with a built-in camera or an external camera?

Please try opening the Camera app on the Start Menu and make sure to toggle the camera lens cover if you have one.

To check if the camera is working in Windows 10:

1. Open the built-in Camera app:
   • Select Start > type Camera > select the Camera app.
   • If you see a live preview of yourself or whatever the camera is pointed at, the camera is working.
2. If the Camera app asks for permission:
   • When prompted, choose Yes to allow access to the camera.
3. If the Camera app shows an error or a black screen:
   • Restart the PC: Start > Power > Restart.
   • Open the Camera app again and test.
4. If it still doesn’t work, check Windows Update for camera/driver fixes:
   • Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
   • Then select Advanced options > Optional updates and install any camera/driver updates.
   • Restart the PC and test the Camera app again.

If the camera works in the Camera app but not in another program (like Teams, Zoom, etc.), the problem is with that program’s settings, not the camera itself.
