Cannot Create Azure Database for MySQL flexible servers: ProvisionNotSupportedForRegion

Hello commumity,

When trying to create Azure Database for MySQL flexible servers, I am receiving a deployment error: ProvisionNotSupportedForRegion. I have tried multiple regions (UK South, UK West, Europe West, Europe North) and also checked availability of the product via region. I ensured that Microsoft.DBforMySQL is an enabled resource provider under my subscription. My subscription is credit-based and I already have an instance of MySQL Flexible Server running. Ideally, I would downgrade this, however I cannot downgrade storage. I cannot create a support ticket, as I do not have a support plan.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

In popular regions (all those you mentioned are included) they have restricted which subscriptions can create new MySQL Flexible servers due to capacity limitations. You may request quota increase for your existing region or request region access for a different region, however, it is possible they will deny your request.

Please carefully follow my instructions below to create a new Service and subscription limits (quotas) request to increase quota for Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server in your preferred region.

Please note there may be some small differences than the precise steps shown below. For example, on Step#3 it may ask you to select your subscription and then select Problem type (Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server) before showing you Create a support request button. If something is confusing let me know in a comment and I will assist.

    1. Navigate to this link to start the process:

    https://portal.azure.com/#create/Microsoft.Support

    2. Enter quota in the box and click Go

    5. Select Issue type: Service and subscription limits (quotas), Subscription, Quota type: Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server, click Next

service and subscription request problem description tab

    6. Now you should be on Additional details tab. Click Enter details

    7. Select Quota increase for General Purpose/Burstable/Business Critical, select Location you need, Series, enter number of cores needed, click Save and continue. If you want to choose a different region select Region access instead.

    8. Finish filling out Additional details tab, click Next, review and click Create. You should receive an automated email within a few minutes.

Please click Accept Answer and upvote if the above was helpful.

    Thanks.
