If I want to know the weather I look outside the window. I'm not a historian and also not a (venture) capitalits, those interested in, what is it? american football? cricket? baseball? are poor basterds. Nobody at Microsoft asked me and I don't know how to remove this nonsense

Open the Settings App.

Go to Personalization - Lock Screen.

In the Widgets section, click the 3 dots beside any widget that is enabled and click Remove.

Then, disable the Widgets setting and the 'Suggest widgets for your Lock Screen' setting

That should remove the annoying widgets from the Lock screen.

Those cards are part of the Windows news, weather, and interests/Widgets experience.

To stop seeing this type of content on lock/sign‑in and elsewhere, turn off the related features and content sources:

    1. Turn off news and interests/widgets content
      • Open the Widgets or news & interests board (for example, by selecting the weather icon on the taskbar or pressing Windows key + W).
      • Use the card “More options” menus to remove cards and sources you do not want, or turn off cards entirely so they no longer appear.
    2. Turn off widget/taskbar notifications
      • Open the Widgets board.
      • Select the Settings button > Notifications.
      • Turn Show notification badges on the taskbar to Off.
      • Turn Show announcements on the taskbar to Off.
    3. If desired, remove Widgets from the taskbar completely
      • Right‑click the taskbar and select Taskbar settings.
      • Under Taskbar items, switch Widgets to Off.

These steps remove the news, markets, sports, and similar cards and prevent related notifications from appearing.
