    Hi,

To better understand the issue and help suggest the most appropriate solution, may I ask a few questions?

Are you receiving any specific error message when opening or using the Microsoft 365 apps? If yes, please share the exact message or a screenshot if possible.

Also, please sign in to your Microsoft Services & Subscriptions page using the link below:

    https://account.microsoft.com/services

Do you see your Microsoft 365 subscription listed there, and does it show as Active?

Use these steps to resolve a “subscription can’t be verified / couldn’t verify subscription” message for Microsoft 365 at home:

    1. Confirm the subscription is active
    • Close all Office apps.
    • Go to the Subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services
    • Sign in with the same Microsoft account used in Word/Excel.
    • Under Microsoft 365, verify the subscription is active and not expired or cancelled.
    • If it’s expired or suspended, renew it, then restart an Office app and check again.
    1. Make sure the correct account and product are used
    • In Word or another Office app, go to File > Account.
    • Under User Information, sign out of all accounts.
    • Select Sign in and use the Microsoft account that shows the active subscription on the Subscriptions page.
    • If the account only has Microsoft 365 Basic, note that this plan does not include desktop Office apps; it only provides OneDrive storage and web/mobile Office. In that case, install a plan that includes desktop apps (Microsoft 365 Personal or Family) or use Office on the web instead.
    1. Let Office re-verify the subscription
    • Ensure the PC is connected to the Internet.
    • Open Word/Excel again.
    • If a yellow bar appears saying Couldn’t Verify Subscription, click Retry while online so Office can contact the service and refresh the license.
    1. Update Office and refresh activation
    • In Word, go to File > Account.
    • Under Product Information, select Update Options > Update Now to install the latest updates.
    • Still in File > Account, use any Update license or Sign in prompts to refresh activation.
    1. If the error persists
    • Run the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant activation troubleshooter on the same Windows 10/11 PC where Office is installed, using the Start button in the article below, and follow the prompts.
    • If that does not fix it, deactivate the install for this device from your Microsoft account, uninstall Office completely using the easy fix tool, then reinstall Office and sign in again with the correct account.

If none of these steps work and the subscription is confirmed active, contact Microsoft Support (consumer) for further activation assistance.
