    Hi!

First, it's important to determine what type of license you have associated with your computer.

    1. Type "'Command Prompt" in the Search Bar > Right-click on the app > Select ''Run as administrator''.
    2. Type, or copy and paste, the command below > Press Enter.
    slmgr.vbs /dlv

    1. In “Product Key Channel” it will show if your license is OEM, Retail, Volume... > Please send me the result.

    Also, please answer:

    1. Did you purchase the license from a Microsoft website or store, or from third-party websites or retailers?
    2. Did your license come pre-installed on your computer when you purchased it?
    3. Have you recently changed any other components besides your hard drive, such as the motherboard?
    4. Have you changed any BIOS settings or performed any updates?

The error code indicates a hardware change. Knowing the license type and other details are necessary to diagnose the problem.

    Unable to activate Windows

We can’t find any devices linked to your Microsoft account that can be used for reactivating the device you’re using right now. Make sure you’re signed in with the same Microsoft account you linked to the Windows 10 digital license on this device or try again later.

You can also activate this device by going to the Store and purchasing a genuine copy of Windows.

Error 0xC004F211 means Windows detects that the hardware of the device has changed. A Windows license is tied to the device hardware, so significant changes such as replacing the system drive or motherboard can cause activation to fail on a fresh installation.

Use these steps on the new drive/installation:

    1. Open Activation settings:
      • Windows 11: Start > Settings > System > Activation.
    2. If activation failed with 0xC004F211, do one of the following:
      • If there is a valid product key for this device, select Change product key and enter that key.
      • If the license is a digital license linked to a Microsoft account that was used before the hardware change, select Troubleshoot on the Activation page. When the troubleshooter finishes, use the option to reactivate after a hardware change and follow the prompts.
    3. If Windows originally came preinstalled on the old device and the motherboard or key hardware has effectively changed, a new license may be required. In that case, on the Activation page select Go to Microsoft Store to purchase a new Windows license.

For future hardware changes, ensure the same Microsoft account is used and linked to the device before changing hardware so the digital license can be transferred using the activation troubleshooter.
